Mary was born February 25, 1923, in Harrisburg, the daughter of the late Raymond Long and Ethel (Sprenkle) Long.
She was married to her high school sweetheart Frank Elmer Bobb for 72 years, before his passing in 2016.
Mary served our country as a nurse in the Women’s Army Corp and served during WWII. She also worked as an ER nurse at Harrisburg Hospital, and for the State of Pennsylvania.
Mary loved to cook, fish, and crochet, and made the best sand tart cookies, and the nurse in her always made sure everyone else was taken care of. She was a member of Baughman United Methodist Church of New Cumberland. She was a part of the Greatest Generation, and her many stories of working in a hospital and raising 3 boys will last with us all.
She is now reunited with her husband and her sons that passed before her, Frank P Bobb (Lorraine), James E Bobb Sr, and William R. Bobb, as well as her sister Celia (Long) Bailets, and brother Raymond “Bud” Long.
Mary leaves behind grandchildren Bethanne (Bobb) Klippel (Timothy) of Virginia, Denise (Bobb) Trutt (Paul) of New Cumberland, James Bobb (Kimberly) of Red Lion, and Jody (Bobb) Graves (Richard) of Maine, as well as great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held with the family.
The family wishes to thank the caregivers and nurses at Rest Haven York for their wonderful care of our grandmother.
In Lieu of Flowers, a memorial contribution may be made to Baughman United Methodist Church of New Cumberland, or the Humane Society of Pennsylvania.
