Marie McKinney Berke

Life began for Mother Marie McKinney Berke on 3/25/35 in Manning, SC. Born to the late Ransom McKinney and Lula Spry Owens-McKinney. On her final journey, Mother Marie was escorted by angels home to be with our Lord and Saviour on 6/25/2014.

A retired homemaker, she taught her children to always put God first in all you do, and pray continuously thanking God for all things good and bad. Mother Marie was one of the founding members of Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, Lancaster, PA.

She is predeceased by her husband, Jacob William Berke, 1 granddaughter, Sherie Keyonna Berke; brothers, Joenathan McKinney, Moise McKinney; sisters, Lillie Mae Witherspoon, Louise Nowlin, Geneva Kane, Gertrude Servante.

She leaves a great legacy through her, 5 children, Sherry Lynn Berke of Harrisburg, Sharlynn Williams of Ohio, Donald McKinney, Karl Berk, William Berk Sr., of Lancaster, PA; goddaughters, Annette Pappino, Taynisha Pappino of MD, Nicole Johnson, Donna Johnson of Coatesville, PA, Betty Jean Gillespy of Lancaster, PA and godson, Timothy Gillespy of Lancaster, PA, brothers, Earnest McKinney of Atglen, PA, George McKinney, Sr. of Lancaster, PA, 1 sister, Eathel King of DC, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, 665 South Ann Street, Lancaster, PA 17602 with Pastor Gerald Simmons officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sherry L. Berke, c/o Zimmerman-Auer Funeral Home, 4100 Jonestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17109

This will help the family greatly to help with the funeral expenses.
