Leah Evelyn Zucker was born in Harrisburg Hospital at 10:37 am, on March 23, 1992, in the middle of a snowstorm. We lost her on May 6, 2019. She was 27 years old. Leah was full of personality until she came in touch with the drugs that stole her life. School and friends came easy to Leah, an ever eager athlete who got her start at JCC basketball. Life before addiction was full of fun and plans for the weekend. She dove into adventure, this beauty with long red hair and a brilliant sense of humor. After graduation from Susquehanna High School in 2010, she attended West Virginia University. Addiction took away all that she could have been and left her with shame and frustration with her lifestyle. Leah tried desperately to beat the drugs. She sought help from a multitude of drug rehabs and treatment programs… each helped her for a time. Leah loved kids and they loved her. At all family functions, the first question the kids would ask was, “Did Leah come?” Leah had time for all the children and they will miss her, as will all of us.
Leah is survived by her mother, Patricia Carey Zucker, and father, Steven Zucker, and his wife, Sonja Zucker. She also leaves behind her brother, Elliott, and his fiance’, Gabriella; her maternal grandmother, Anne Carey; stepbrothers, Jacob and Michael; stepsister, Angel, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Visitation will be Thursday, May 16, 2019, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry Street, Harrisburg. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, May 17, 2019, at St. Margaret Mary Church, 2800 Paxton Church Road, Harrisburg. A luncheon will follow.
