John J Lupia, 72, of Harrisburg, Pa, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 14, 2020. Born June 8, 1948 in Steelton, Pa; he was the son of the late John and Marie (Weiss) Lupia; and preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Lupia. John is survived by his wife Diane (Gursky) Lupia; stepchildren, Valerie Yeck, Ashley Grushinski, and Philip Grushinski; 9 grandchildren; and 3 brothers, James, Thomas, and Joseph.John was a retired U.S. Postal Service Employee and U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School and joined the United States Air Force shortly after completing high school, where he served until was honorably discharged in 1972. Soon after he began his career at the U.S. Postal Service where he worked until he retired after 35 years. Upon retiring he started working at the Harrisburg International Airport, where he worked for 10 years, until his illness. John was a devoted husband, loving father to his son Jonathan, and great stepfather. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren to the park, going to different restaurants, going to the racetrack to watch horse races and was a very big fan of the Phillies and the Eagles. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all that knew him. Special thanks to those who took the time to visit and call John while he was ill, it really raised his spirits. And special thanks to his nurses and health care team for the great care they provided. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 AM Friday, October 23, 2020 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
