She was born March 20, 1928 in Lewistown; she was preceded in death by her loving husband, James E. Sayers; her mother, Lillian Shope; her granddaughter, Leah Sansone; and a daughter-in-law, Joan Sayers.
She is survived by a son, Randy Sayers, of Middle River, MD; 2 daughters, Cindy Weesner, husband, Tom and Barbara Ward, husband, Billy, both of Harrisburg; 6 grandchildren, Jason Weesner, Jessica (Weesner) Banks, Justin Weesner, James A. Sayers, Shane Sansone and Eleny Sansone; and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was the personnel director for Statesman Group for many years and retired as the office manager for the Feinerman Group.
She was a lifelong member of Progress-Immanuel Presbyterian Church and its PIPCI Group.
In her joyful life Joanne loved to travel with her husband, adored and doted on her grandchildren and great grands, was known for her ready smile, parties by the pool, and true friendships that lasted a lifetime. Encouraged the love of reading and music, to all the children in the family no matter how old and always had a song for every occasion. Music played a huge part in guiding the angels to take her home. Her legacy to all who knew her was of love, light and laughter as well as an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and independence. Joanne went home to be with her beloved husband, dear friends who went before and into the arms of her sweet mother. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched, warm memories that forever stay in the hearts of her family are a blessing beyond measure.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to be made to Central PA Hospice, 1320 Linglestown Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17110 in her memory.
