Jean Wannemacher would like you to know her time on this earth ended peacefully on her birthday, April 12 2024. Her 99 productive years were spent as a loving wife, wonderful Mother, great friend, tireless volunteer and known by all. Her new travel plans will be a reunion with her husband, H. Arthur (“Art”) Wannemacher, Jr. and their son H. Arthur (“Artie) Wannemacher, III., as well as her Sisters’ Muriel Goodman, Phyllis Towill, and her brother Richard Oughton. We know she will have lots to say when she gets there since her speech has been limited in the last months of her life. Although Jean was unable to walk or communicate in the end, she was always cheerful and grateful to those who cared for her. Jean is headed to a wonderful place with a new sewing machine, many sets of knitting needles, yards of fabrics, bridge tables filled with other great competitors, and old friends to catch up with. We are sure she will find renewed joy in standing tall, orchestrating activities, talking, laughing and reuniting with her husband of 55 years. They will re-live their happy times in Huntingdon Valley, summers in Ocean City and winters in the “islands”.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Cathy Demos and her husband Jack, and Jennifer Ogle and her husband Bob. “Nan” is also survived by her grandchildren, Carey Birgel, Lindsey Kruljac, Gregory Demos, Robb Ogle and Krisit DeVilliers, along with nine great- grandchildren.
Jean has left her family with cherished memories as well as the physical fruits of her creative talents which will live on in the form of needlepoint Christmas stockings, hand-knitted sweaters, and hand-stitched quilts that will wrap us in her love.
