

grandfather, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness on February
8, 2025. He was 88 years old.
Born to David & Martha Maxwell on August 30, 1936 in Steelton, PA, James was a man who
dedicated his life to his family and friends. He was the beloved husband of Marion Eroh
Maxwell for 66 years. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home filled with laughter,
shared stories, and lasting memories.
As the loving father of three, James is survived by his son James D. Maxwell of North Augusta,
SC, his son Dr. Jeffrey A. Maxwell of Rock Hill, SC, and his daughter Kimberly A. Maxwell
Foltz of Mechanicsburg, PA. James took immense pride in his children and was their greatest
supporter, teaching them the value of family, perseverance, and compassion.
The family grew richer as James became a proud grandfather to Jenna Maxwell Godsen of
Jacksonville, FL, Ashley Maxwell of New Zealand, Saige Maxwell of Rock Hill, SC , Dakota
Foltz of Phoenix, AZ, and Shelby Foltz of New Cumberland, PA. His grandchildren were the
jewels of his heart, and he cherished every moment he spent with them, imparting wisdom,
sharing laughter, and creating cherished family memories.
James was even more blessed to embrace the role of great-grandfather to Ezra Godsen of
Jacksonville, FL. His legacy will continue to echo through the laughter and love of the
generations to come.
Outside of his family, James was a man who enjoyed spending time with friends, he was a
talented musician, served his country in the Navy reserves, enjoyed restoring antique cars, and
engaging in lively conversations. His kind spirit, easy smile, and comforting presence made hima treasured figure in the lives of those around him.
He will always be remembered by his favorite phrase “I love it, it’s great!”
James leaves behind a family forever enriched by his affection and guidance. He will be deeply
missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will be held at a later date where family and friends can gather to reflect
beautiful moments and memories they shared with him.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in James' memory to The
American Cancer Society, honoring the values he upheld throughout his life.
