Glenn Allen Flenner, Sr., 86, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born August 19, 1933, in Grandville, PA, he was a son of the late Walter and Edna Flenner.
Allen left home at age 16 years old and moved to Baltimore where he lived in a boarding house and worked at Baltimore Magazine Company. Also worked as an usher at the Old Hippidrone Theater. At age 17 he joined the U.S. Air Force and serving from 1950-1954 as an aircraft mechanic.
After his service, he worked for 40 years as a boat builder making large fishing yachts before retiring. After retirement, he moved to Perry County where he built his own wood working shop and created many beautiful pieces of furniture and other wooden items.
His hobbies were numerous. He loved shooting pool with his brother Ron. Also, he followed a girls pool team every week. He loved to entertain at his home. For 10 years he and Jane hosted the Flenner Family Reunion. He also enjoyed reading, spending time on his Kindle Fire, bird watching, fishing, attending public auctions, and he loved sitting around the fire pit with friends and family. He and Jane took two trips to Alaska and several cruises. He was a member of his neighborhood poker team.
For many years he went to Lake George, NY with family. Most of all he enjoyed all his grandchildren, often working with them in the shop, fishing, and attending their school events. Always proud all of their accomplishments. He looked forward to all his trips to Canada with his friend Nevin helping to build a cabin.
Surviving are his loving wife, Jane Flenner; sons Glenn, Jr. and Ken McNulty (Carol); daughters, Sandy Benz (Steve) and Jen Springer (Charles); grandchildren, Jessica, Michael, Bobby, Catherine, Austin, Sarah, Caty, Will, and Ryan; brother, Ron Flenner (Lucy); sister, Ehtel Bowen; and his in-laws, Betty (Jim), Les (Linda), Nancy, Lee (Katie), Mark (Shelia), Edie (Bill), Earla (Tom), Ann (Keith), and Gail (Dean).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Pauline, Marge, Faye, Gladys, Betty, Thelma, Dorothy and Louise; and brothers, Jim, Albert, Gene, and Billy.
Services will be at a later date.
