Dana L. Eisenstein, of Paxtang, Pennsylvania, gently departed this earthly life on Saturday, May 20th, her beloved children by her side. She was 59.
Dana was born July 19th, 1963, in Seattle Washington, and grew up in Konstanz, Germany. She was the daughter of Grace Y. Chapman (Lem), currently of Medford, Oregon and the late David D. Chapman.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son, Simon Eisenstein, of Paxtang, Pennsylvania, a daughter, Evelyn Eisenstein, of Port Royal, Pennsylvania, a brother, James Chapman, of Jersey City, New Jersey, a sister, Christina Keimig, of Tuscon, Arizona, a devoted ex- husband, John Eisenstein, of Port Royal, Pennsylvania, with whom she shared 18 years of marriage, most of them good, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by a son, William N. Eisenstein, and her four cats.
Dana spent the bulk of her professional career teaching and performing piano. She even once performed a recital for the crown prince of Belgium, who appeared bored, despite the recital being, by all accounts, exquisite. She was especially accomplished as an accompanist, in which capacity she brought out the musical best in young and old alike, from beginners to virtuosos. She was a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
Later in life she turned her focus to human health and healing, earning a MS in Nutritional Science from the Maryland University of Integrative Health. She was enrolled in, and was an avid student at, the Los Angeles School of Homeopathy when she fell ill.
Dana was diagnosed with cancer in 2008, and succeeded in keeping the disease at bay for many years. She made good use of her time thus won, raising her children with unswerving devotion and bringing light, love and beautifully knitted hats to everyone she knew. Most of all she will be missed for her gentle soul, compassionate and kind being, and her laughter.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, June 10, 2023 in the Neill Funeral Home, 3501 Derry St., Harrisburg.
