Clyde was born in Harrisburg, PA to the late Clyde E. and Laura G. Armstrong (Crumlich) on September 30th, 1950.
For nine months, Clyde fought a courageous battle with two cancers. His leukemia returned after being in remission for 27 years. He was also diagnosed with late-stage prostate cancer. He never lost that smile that would melt your heart amidst all the pain.
Clyde loved his sports teams, The Philadelphia Flyers, The Philadelphia Eagles (Go Birds!) and the Penn State Nittany Lions. He was very competitive when it came to playing horseshoes or shooting pool. You could find him most often wearing a Harley Davidson tee shirt because he loved his HD trike. He graduated from Central Dauphin High School in 1969.
Surviving him are his wife of 41 years, Gayle P. Armstrong (Look), Clyde’s daughter, Summer R. Armstrong and stepson, John J. Trostle, Jr. (Bert).
Clyde is also survived by his brother, Rodney D. Armstrong and wife, Gwen Armstrong.
Predeceasing Clyde is his son, Clyde E. Armstrong, III, two older sisters, Judith Smith and Connie Salerno, and a younger brother, Mark A. Armstrong.
Together, Clyde and Gayle enjoyed seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Clyde’s memory will live on through his many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and loving friends.
The family is planning a Celebration of Clyde’s life. The details of this event will be published later.
