He was born Aug. 17, 1929 in Ashland, Pa., to the late Charles and Cathryn Krah. He was married 33 years to Doris (Adiutori) and they attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Holy Spirit Hospital for their attention and care.
After graduation from Valley Forge Military Academy and Junior College in 1949, he served in the Army for two years during the Korean conflict. Following military service, he worked as an ore sample tester for A.S. McCreath & Son in Montreal, Quebec for 23 years and later in Harrisburg before his retirement in 1994. Charles liked listening to music and, for many years, he was an enthusiastic tuba player with multiple bands. For years, he and his wife enjoyed going on cruises. He loved the challenge of working on crossword puzzles.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus/4th Degree, the American Legion, the Hershey Italian Lodge, and he served as a volunteer for the Red Cross. He also was a member of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees.
Survivors include his wife and three nephews: Mark Stevens, Jon Mark Saraceno and Gary Saraceno.
A viewing will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, Nov. 12 at the Neill Funeral Home in Harrisburg followed by a service Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Private burial will be at Calvary Cemetery & Mausoleum in Erie, Pa. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Catherine Laboure Parish in Harrisburg.
