David H Garcia

Originally from Donna, Texas, he patriotically served his country as a Seaman in the United States Navy. He also enlisted in the Texas National Guard and in the Merchant Marine.

After his period of service, he became and worked as a barber marrying Maria R. Garcia (deceased). He then sold Life Insurance in the early 1980’s for Kentucky Central Life Insurance Company. Retired but still full of life, he continued to work selling watermelon to many people, and was affectionately known as the “watermelon man”.

He is survived by his children, Daniel Garcia, Judith Hancock Mangum, James R. Hancock, Dora L. Garcia, and Albert G. Garcia as well as many grandchildren

Memorial services will be held today at First Christian Church, 421 S. 13th ST,, Harlingen, Texas 78550 at 2:00 p.m.

Interment services will commence Monday, September 29th at 10:00 am at Funeraria Del Angel, 2906 S. Expressway 77/83, Harlingen, Texas 78550; and on to Restlawn Memorial Park, La Feria, Texas.
