Daniel Ramos Puente

Harlingen, Texas - Daniel Ramos Puente, 76, was called home by his Savior on Thursday, October 4, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He graduated from Harlingen High School where he was a track star athlete. He attended Texas Southmost College and Texas A & I in Kingsville, majoring in Chemical Engineering. Mr. Puente was employed more than 50 years between Langley-Pittman Labs in Rio Hondo, Texas, Trinity Testing, and PSI Labs in La Feria, Texas. He had a love for music and in the 1950’s, he and his brothers formed a band called “Los Hermanos Ramos”, playing his prized guitars for many more years. He was known as “El Internacional” to many of his musician friends. Football was his passion. He enjoyed watching sports on T.V. He will be greatly missed as a son, father, grandfather, and uncle, as well as a mentor to many others.

Daniel is preceded in death by his infant siblings, Ramiro and Rogelio Puente, and by his father, Matilde Torres Puente.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Bertha D. Puente; his loving mother, Juanita Ramos; his caring and compassionate daughter, Marisol Puente; his beloved son, Daniel Puente, Jr.; brothers, Julio Puente, Abundio Puente, Fidel Alejandro Puente, George Puente; sisters, Elena Puente De La Cruz, and Rosa Puente Zepeda. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and many, many neices and nephews whom will cherish him forever, and his two beloved dogs, Grifa and Polo.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 7, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 8, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel in Harlingen, Texas. Interment will follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito, Texas.
