Chuck grew up in Bossier City, Louisiana and Dallas, Texas. He was a graduate of the University of Texas at Brownsville. Chuck worked for the United States Border Patrol for 21 years in the intelligence operations where he was an integral part of covert investigations.
Chuck was a man of many talents and interests. He enjoyed grilling, restoring cars, remodeling his home, hunting, and boating. Chuck was also a sports enthusiast and loved cheering for the UT Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and the Rio Hondo Bobcats where his sons played on the football team. Chuck was a devote Catholic and active member of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. Most of all, Chuck enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his young grandchildren.
Chuck leaves behind his loving family: wife of 33 years Delia Gantt; sons Jason (Alix) Gantt, Joel Gantt, and Eric (Alyssa) Gantt; grandchildren Aubrey, Aidan, Madelyn, Liam, Jace, Melody, and Jackson Gantt; parents Henry and Sandra Gantt, siblings Robert (Polly) Gantt, and Donna (Michael) Leiter; mother-in-law Olivia (+Elisandro) Flores; and sister-in-laws Hilda (+Mike) Ochoa and Norma (Santos) Fraga.
Chuck is preceded in death by his father Donald Lee Crouthers, son Larry Lee Gantt, father-in-law Elisandro (Alex) Flores, and brother-in-law Mike Ochoa, Sr.
Visitation will be held on July 24, 2015 from 10 am to 9 pm at Del Angel Funeraria with a recitation of the holy rosary at 7 pm. The funeral procession will depart July 25, 2015 at 9 am for a funeral service at 10 am to be held at St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Rio Hondo. A burial will follow at Combes Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Jason Gantt, Eric Gantt, Mike Ochoa, Jr., Hector Ochoa, Javier Fraga, Sierus Erdelyi, James Summers, and James Morrell. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Gantt and Frank Gonzalez.
