Thomas C. Aquila, 68, of Harlan, Indiana, affectionately known by his family as “Tommy”, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at home with his wife Joanne by his side. Tommy was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Andrea and Carmella (Sill) Aquila. He married Joanne Lucas. Tommy was a veteran of the United States Army and went on to have a long career with GM, retiring after 30 years. He was also a real estate agent in Indiana and Pennsylvania. He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed fixing and remodeling things. He was always willing to help the neighbors. He is survived by his wife, Joanne; four children, Thomas Aquila II of Ohio, Antoinette Aquila of California, Andrew Aquila of California, and Kevin Aquila of Ohio; four step-children, Richard (Andrea) Henry 5th of Fort Wayne, Robin Henry of Harlan, Christopher (Ernestine) Henry of Kentucky, and Leah (Victor) Francisco of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; sisters Carmella Ross and Saveria (Clifford) Fulgham and brother Joseph (Lilian) Aquila; and his large extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews. Tommy was preceded in death by a brother, Andrea "ANDY" S. Aquila. Funeral services will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, 17629 State Road 37, Harlan, Indiana 46743 with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Catholic Cemetery, 3500 Lake Avenue, Fort Wayne, Indiana 46805. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be directed to the Harlan Christian Youth Center or Canine Haven Rescue of Waterloo. The Aquila family would like to extend a special thank you to Elara Hospice for excellent care of Tommy.
