Lane H. Hobbs, 83, of Harlan, Indiana passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his loved ones. Lane was born on January 16, 1942, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, a son of the late Glenn E. and Jessie M. (Roy) Hobbs. Lane graduated from Central Catholic High School, Fort Wayne. He later went on to have successful careers at Eckrich for 20 years and at Contech for over 20 years, before finally retiring. In his free time, he enjoyed working in the garage, in his yard, gardening, cooking, having breakfast with and visiting neighbors, Ford trucks, and wearing hats. While he was a man of few words, Lane will be remembered for his deep love of his family. He greatly loved spending time with them and going to their many activities. Surviving family include his wife of 34 years, Carol Hobbs; sons, Gary (Terri) and Brian (Holly) Hobbs; stepson, Lance Irwin; stepdaughter, Kristi (Steve) Keele; grandchildren, Zach (Ashley), Stephanie, Kimberly, Landon, Brendon, Jadon, Abbey (Alex), and Audrey (Jack); two great grandchildren on the way; and brother, Jim (Diane) Hobbs. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his son, Kevin Hobbs. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Hockemeyer Funeral Home, 17629 State Road 37, Harlan, with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 2:00 pm.
