James Michael "Jim" Chandler, 58, of Harlan passed away at his residence surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 21, 2022. He was born to the late James Wayne and Nancy Ann (Turnbow) Chandler. He married his beloved wife, Carolyn Sue Stanton, at Holy Cross Lutheran church in 1986. Jim was passionate about his profession as a drywaller and loved building and serving his community. He was a proud member of Promise Lutheran Church and the Harlan Lions Club. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting, and spending time with friends and family. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Stanton) Chandler; son, Cory Chandler; daughter, Alyssa (Luke) Shoemaker; grandchildren, Lauren Chandler, Matthew Chandler, Easton Shoemaker, and Micah Shoemaker; mother, Ruth (Springer) Chandler; and siblings, Shelby (Burk) Evans, Rebecca (Marshall) Kunderd, Scott (Jeni) Chandler, and Stephanie (Drew) Sauers. Preceding him in death are his son, Matthew Chandler; and siblings, Stephen Chandler and Wayne (Tina) Chandler. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 11 AM at Promise Lutheran Church, 7323 Schwartz Road, Fort Wayne. Calling will be Tuesday, December 27, 2022, from 4 to 8 PM at the church and one hour before the funeral service on December 28, 2022. Burial will follow at Harlan Memorial Cemetery.
