DOLORES E. VOLKERT, 97, of Harlan, died on Saturday, April 27, 2013, 9:45 p.m., in Harlan. Born Dec. 10, 1915, in Orange County-Hancock County, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late William Businger and Leona (Lindsey). She was a homemaker and attended North Scipio United Methodist Church and was a life member of Eastern Star (Past Matron). She was the last survivor of the 1934 graduating class of Mark Center High School. Surviving are sons, Allan (Charlene) Volkert of Harlan and Quinten (Judy) Volkert of Fort Wayne; son-in-law, Ernie Foshee of Harlan; grandchildren, Monica (Jason) Esquivel of Paulding, Ohio, Aaron (Charissa) Volkert of Woodburn and Kelly (Eric) Bell of Fort Wayne; five great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; sister, Estella Balser of Hicksville, Ohio; and brother, William Businger of Monticello, Ind. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Norvel Dean McKinley; second husband, DeWitt Volkert; son, Melvin McKinley; daughter, Judy Foshee; four sisters; and six brothers. Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday at North Scipio United Methodist church, with calling from 9:30 o 10:30 a.m. Pastor Phil Abram officiating. Calling also from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hockemeyer Funeral Home, Harlan, with Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m. . Burial in Scipio Cemetery. Preferred memorials to North Scipio United Methodist Church.
