February 17, 2015 at the age of 55. Wayne was born in Des Moines, Iowa
December 8, 1959 to Charles and Barbara Lantz. In 1963 the family moved
to Hanford where he attended elementary school and graduated from
Hanford High School in 1978.
In his younger years, Wayne worked in construction and as a
karaoke D.J. Before becoming disabled with back and neck injuries in
2011, he was employed as a poker dealer and table games supervisor at
the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino.
Wayne was blessed with many gifts. He sang in the Apollonaires
choir and was also selected to sing in the 24 member Madrigal choir in
high school. Lantz family gatherings often included everyone singing while
his mother played piano or his sister played guitar.
Also a gifted athlete, he loved baseball and was an excellent
pitcher. His pitching helped the Hanford 15-year-old all-stars win the
Northern Section District No.1 Tournament. He took pride in that ability
and the hard work he put into it. In high school he played on the football,
baseball and golf teams. As an adult Wayne enjoyed playing golf with his
father and brothers and for several years they played city league and
tournament fast pitch and slow pitch softball together.
Blessed with the gift of humor, Wayne loved to laugh with family
and friends. He was generous with his time, whether building a fence for
his niece's new home or helping someone with a household project. He
loved animals and kids. He especially loved his daughter Brandi and was
extremely proud of the woman she had become.
Wayne is survived by one daughter Brandi Lantz of Laguna Beach,
and siblings: Steve and his wife Linda Lantz of Visalia; Paul and his wife
Katherine Lantz of Fresno; Patti and her husband Robert Davis of Hanford.
He is also survived by his sister-in-law Susan Lantz Calhoun, and niece and
nephew Dawna Lantz and Bryan Wilson. Wayne was preceded in death
by his parents and his brother David Lantz.
A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, August 5 at
Grangeville Cemetery.
