A Dairy farmer, a son, a brother, a husband, and a father; it is with the greatest sorrow that the Simas family must inform of the peaceful passing of Steve Simas at his home on July 21, 2018 at the age of 53. Steve’s life began in Hanford on January 27, 1965 and has revolved around this town ever since. While expanding the Lu-Ar Dairy over the years, Steve earned several High Herd Awards, served on the Board of the DHIA, was deemed King’s County Top Dairy, and achieved many other accolades.
Steve embodied the hard working agricultural man: From overseeing walnut, pistachio, and almond harvests to the routine 4am heifer checks, no task was too big or too small. With muddied boots and a contagious smile, he worked seven days a week to ensure his business flourished as well as to provide for his endearing family.
Rather than dwelling on the departure of Steve, we must emphasize on the beauty of his life. Never has there been so much joy in one man, so much drive, and so much genuine compassion. Steve’s spirit will thrive in the bloom of his orchards, his legacy will endure with his Holsteins, and his love will forever be cherished by his parents Louie and Arlene, brother Stanley, sister Teresa (husband Jimmy Dutra), his wife Julie, and his four daughters Ashley Villa, Alexa, Hannah, and Jillian Simas. In addition, he leaves behind his niece and nephew, Nicole and Brian Galvez (wife Allison Galvez), and great nieces and nephew, Anyssia and Aliccia Woods, Savannah and Colton Galvez. Goodbye Steve, you have brightened so many lives with your kindness and your laughter. “The flame that burns twice as bright often burns twice as fast.”
A “Celebration of Life” will be held Friday, August 3rd at 2:00PM; Kings Country Club 3529 12th Ave., Hanford, CA 93230. Please join us to commemorate the life of Steve Xavier Simas.
