Regenia Reeves Rose of Hanford passed away on November 14, 2012 at Kaiser Hospital, Fresno. Born on April 23, 1929 in Gilbert, Arkansas, Regenia was the youngest of eight children born to James Robert Reeves and Martha Blanche Tyler. She was preceded in death by both parents and her seven siblings, including brothers Hugh, Bert and Ed and sisters Blanche, Ruth, Pearl and Gussie Mae.
Regenia was among the Hanford High School Class of 1947. She continued to be active with fellow alumni through the years, recently attending her 65th class reunion this summer.
Regenia worked in the telecommunications industry for twenty five years as an operator and later a line assigner at the phone company that became AT&T. After her retirement in 1986 Regenia enjoyed square dancing for many years with her club in San Jose and with the Square Eight Club in Hanford. She loved participating in Slot Machine Tournaments in Las Vegas. Always the adventurer, Regenia loved to travel around the world with her square dance club in San Jose and enjoyed a cruise to Alaska with friends. She would hit the road as a passenger on the back of a motorcycle, and later traveled cross country in her motor home with her companion Jack Vierra, enjoying the sights while visiting friends and family along the way.
Regenia lived for many years in the Monterey and San Jose areas, returning to her home town of Hanford in 2004.
Family meant everything to Regenia. She loved family gatherings for birthdays, graduations and weddings. She especially enjoyed the Holidays and being surrounded by her loving family. Regenia is survived by her two children, Joan (Ed) and Robert (Kathy), her five grandchildren, Libre (Bridget), Devin (Samantha), Taylor, Serena, and Robert, her two great-grandchildren Miles and Eva, her friend, companion, and heroic caretaker as her health failed, Jack Vierra, and her beloved little poodle, Annie.
A Memorial Service will be held for Regenia at People's Chapel on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 3:00 p.m., with reception immediately following. A graveside service will he held the following day at Hanford Cemetery on Friday December 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. Flowers may be sent to People's Chapel in Hanford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Episcopal Church of the Saviour Parish Church in Hanford.
