Mom was born in Oklahoma on December 2, 1928 as Mina Smith. They moved to California when she was 7 and that's where she grew up. When mom was 15 she fell in love with the love of her life to Wayne Davis. They got married on February 2, 1946 when they were 17 and 18. Then dad went into the Army in January of 1946.
Elaine was born on October 30, 1946 when dad came home from the Army they lived in Selma, Ca and Sandy was born on August 21, 1948 then kim was born on February 14, 1953 so there was 3 of us. We all loved each other so much.
Mom and dad bought a grocery store in Selma and mom and grandma Davis ran it for about 4 years. Then they sold the store and bought another one in 1961 in Lemoore, Ca and worked there until they retired in 1995.We all had a good life together. They were good parents and we made lots of good memories together.
No children are supposed to pass away before their parents, but Sandy passed in 2010 and we all missed her very much. Then Kim passed in 2023 and we missed her too, so I am the one left; Elaine. I'm telling this story and I hope I get it all right. I sure do miss my sisters. We always had so much fun together. When mom and dad retired, they moved to Hanford, California and lived there for 23 years. Then they went to Valley Christian Home.
Dad passed on October 20, 2019 and mom passed on September 3, 2023. When mom lost dad she lost the love of her life. She was so much in love with him, she was lost. They were married almost 75 years. I am truly going to miss my mom. In the last 4 years we really got close. Mom depended on me and I tried to do the best I could taking care of her.
Mom and dad were really good role models for us kids. Mom taught us how to be good mothers and wives. She was strong toward the end even though she had some illnesses. She kept holding on and being strong for me. She was a good Christian woman. She for sure believed in God. Mom and dad were very hard workers. They worked long and hard hours every day. They taught us girls good work ethics.
I guess I could talk all day and not get to tell everything I need to say; so I will end it here.
