at the age of 93. He was born May 31, 1923 to
Isidro and Trinidad Ramirez, and had five siblings,
Mercy, Margaret, Mary, Henrietta and Jess Ramirez,
which all proceeded him in death.
Manuel served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
After being honorably discharged, he came home
and enlisted in the National Guards.
He soon met the love of his life Mary Garcia. They
married July of 1957 and seven months later they
took in and raised two of his nieces, Connie and
Jessie Apodoca. A year later they had a child of
their own, Rachel and eleven years later adopted a son Dave.
He worked for the local Ford dealership, which at the time
was called Bob Green Ford and remained with the
dealership through its changing ownerships for the next 25-30 years.
Manuel had a love for music and loved to play his drums.
He played with different bands as often as he could, one of
which recorded a record. He was also proud to have been
a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp.
He leaves behind Mary, his wife of 59 years; his daughter
Rachel Bridges (Robert); his son Dave Ramirez (Berenice);
Connie Garcia and Jessie Lerma; grandchildren, Paul, Mark
and Phil Lerma, Paul Garcia, Janine, Joshua, Anaka and
Aidan Bridges, Tiffany, Jacob, Brook, Derick, Julienn, Dominic,
Dakota and Andy Ramirez; great grandchildren Saul, Jr. and John Rodriguez.
There will be a Visitation held on Monday, August 1, 2016,
5:00 – 7:00 pm with a Rosary at 6:00 pm at People’s Funeral Chapel,
501 N Douty St, Hanford, California. A Funeral Mass will be held on
Tuesday, August 2, 2016, 10:00 am at St. Brigid Catholic Church,
1001 N Douty St, Hanford, California. Burial will immediately follow the
Funeral Mass at Calvary Cemetery, 11680 S 10th St, Hanford, California.
