Lucia “Lucy” Bravo Leon, 89, began her journey home on Sunday, May 25, 2014 with her family at her bedside. Lucy was born to Guadalupe & Francis “Panch” Gutierrez Bravo on June 30, 1924 in Corona, California. She was primarily a homemaker, but she also did field work and housekeeping. She was a resident of Corcoran most of her life. Lucy married the love of her life at 18 to Pete V. Leon. She touched the lives of many in and throughout her life, as a care provider to her parents, her siblings and grandchildren. Her hobbies included: bingo, knitting, painting and listening to her musica. She was a very social lady; she enjoyed people and people enjoyed her.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Lucy is survived by her two sisters and one brother: “Landa”, Annie and Johnny; her 10 children: Joe, Pete, Margaret, Richard, Lupe, Salvador, Danny, David, Masita, Abel and countless grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her poodle, “Fluffy”, played a very special role in the latter part of her life.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 from 11:00 – 11:30 a.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 and Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:00 p.m. at St. Brigid Catholic Church; 1000 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 with Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery; 11680 S. 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230.
