Leon Cornett, 76 was born on December 7, 1937 to his parents; Alton and Tular (McDaniel) Cornett in Logansport, Louisiana. Leon went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 8, 2014 in his home with his family at his bedside in Hanford, California, one week after his mother’s passing on Friday, August 1, 2014.
Leon resided in Hanford, CA for 65 years. Leon attended and finished school in Hanford. He was employed by the Hanford Unified School District for 30 years where he retired after having been a school bus mechanic and school bus driver. During that time he spent 2 years in the U.S. Army. After leaving the school district, Leon became a self-employed truck driver for the next 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his father; Alton Cornett, mother; Tular McDaniel and his brothers; Bobby Cornett and Ronald Cornett.
He leaves to mourn a brother; Tommy Cornett of San Pablo, CA, a sister; Dorthea Heard of Houston, TX, an aunt; Velma Howard of Hanford, CA, his loving companion of five years; Connie Hernandez of Hanford, CA, two daughters; Rhonda of Las Vegas, NV and Draina of Sacramento, CA and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
