Keith was born in Big Springs, Texas on July 31, 1925 to George and Mary Joiner. Keith grew up in Big Springs and began working as a very young man to help his family. In October 1942 Keith moved to Alpaugh, California to work and then the next summer returned to Texas to help his family moved here. He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1947 with 11th Airborne Division stationed in the Philippine Islands. On July 6, 1947 Keith married Janet “Faye” Miller in Alpaugh, California and they made their home there for 34 years. Keith and Faye were cotton ranchers in the Alpaugh area for 31 years. They also ranched in the Wasco area for 1952 to 1959. Keith retired in 1985. In 1990 Keith and Faye moved to Coarsegold to make their home. He loved horses, especially training them. Keith loved riding and camping in the back country and the family spent many hours at Balch Park Pack Station. Family was very important to Keith and he enjoyed every minute together. He was lovingly know as the “World’s Greatest Grandpa”. Keith was a member of the Tulare County Sheriff’s Posse for over 10 years.
Keith leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 64 years, Janet “Faye” Joiner of Coarsegold, CA; three children, Stan Joiner and wife, Marcie of Alpaugh, CA, Peggy Martin of Coarsegold, CA and Kenneth Joiner and wife, Toni of Wasco and Oildale, CA; one brother, Odell Joiner and wife, Lynn of Bakersfield, CA; one sister, Pauline Vedenoff of Olympia, WA; five grandchildren, Steven Martin, Jr., Kellie Black, Ryan Joiner , Nikki Manning and husband, Brandon and Nicholas Joiner and five great grandchildren, Katelynn Joiner, Alyssa Rocha, Sarah Black, Emma Black and Camron Martin and many extended family and friends.
