Joni "JoJo" Carter

Jonetta "Joni" Davis Carter of Hanford, CA unexpectedly passed away on Thursday March 10, 2016 at Kaweah Medical Center. She was 54 years old. She was born on October 3, 1961 in McKinney, TX to Rose Mary Davis and James Howard Brock. Joni attended Armona elementary and Hanford High schools. In 1980 she met Stephen Carter, the man who she spent the rest of her life with and proudly called her husband. Being a wife to Steve was the role in life Joni was most proud of. Together Joni and Steve had two beautiful daughters and later one adopted son.

Joni was well known in the motorcycle community. She founded and held the position of President Local 34 ABATE (American Brotherhood Arms Towards Education) for several years. This was an achievement Joni was very proud of. Joni loved to help others and her community. Joni held countless Toys for Tots runs, St. Jude runs, CPS runs and many others. Joni founded "Bike Night" at Shorty’s Bar in Hanford and loved being the MC.

Joni is preceded in death by her mother and father.

She is survived by the love of her life Steve Carter, her loving daughters Reina Sanchez (Rene) of Hanford, Deseria Aldan (Andrew) of Bakersfield, son Marcelino Martinez (Teresa) of Armona, grandchildren Annabelle and Vincent Sanchez of Hanford, Aubrey Aldan of Bakersfield, Marcelino Jr, Annaka and Navaeh Martinez of Armona, her brothers Jim Davis and his son Jacob, Jerry Davis and his son Justin all of Hanford, sister Jackie Campbell (Bill) of Kentucky. Joni will also be deeply missed by countless friends whom she considered family and all the "kids" who called her mom. Joni never met a stranger.

A Celebration of Joni’s Life will be held at the home of Reina and Rene Sanchez on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.
