With a determination, courage and humility exhibited throughout his life, John Miller, a retired local farmer, passed away peacefully at Kings Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hanford, California, in early May. Survived by the love of his life, his wife Edie of 70 years, John is also survived by his three children Janet (Bruce), Nancy, and John (Chris), three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Living his life with a sense of humor, kindness and compassion, John was devoted to his family and friends, and never turned away a stranger who was in need of help.
John had a passion for farming and was a true force of nature. A perfectionist in his farming, he actively worked in the fields full time until retirement at the age of 84. While every farmer enjoys the fruits of their labor, he also understood and appreciated the soil from which it came. It was just as important for him to care for the soil as it was to nurture his crops. He was an integral part of a rich timeline of the farming-evolution in California.
It is such a loss to know that he is no longer here physically for those of us who have always loved him, but knowing he will always be here in our hearts brings us much comfort.
Thank you to Vicky Yarborough for her years of comforting care for John, and to the staffs at Kings Nursing and Rehabilitation and Adventist Health Home Care and Hospice Team.
