Joe Henry Veenendaal

Joe Henry Veenendaal, 89 passed away on Monday, May 12, 2014 at Hanford Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hanford, California. Joe was born to Henry & Henrietta (van Dyke) Veenendaal on July 22, 1924 in Inwood, Iowa. Joe has been a resident of Hanford for the past 45 years where he was in the dairy business for 40 years. Joe was a longtime member of the Trinity United Reformed Church of Visalia. Joe married the first love of his life; Margie on September 7, 1944 in Artesia, California, then his other love of his life; Marie on April 19, 1986.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents; Henry & Henrietta Veenendaal and his first wife of 41 years; Margie (Wichers) Veenendaal on May 19, 1985 and his two sisters; Martha Van Foeken & Johanna Van Dyk.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years; Marie (Plooy) Veenendaal of Hanford, California. He also leaves behind his loving children and their spouses; Retta Van Eyk of Hanford, Evelyn Pereira of Visalia and Hank Veenendaal of Hanford. He will be truly missed by his precious 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his dear brother; Henry Veenendaal of Hanford. Joe was also loved by Marie’s children and their spouses; Vickie Rocha, Cindy Aguirre, Steve Plooy, Laurie Mello and Stan Plooy all of Hanford and her 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 9:30 a.m. at Hanford Cemetery; 10500 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-3937 with a Memorial Service to follow at 11:00 at Visalia Christian Reformed Church; 1030 S. Linwood Street, Visalia, CA 93277 559-625-0444.
