Joe was a strong and determined man. He served his country proud when he enlisted in the Army in 1952. He then went on to serve in the Korean War. Joe was very proud of his military service. After returning home from the Army, he went back to work at Machado Dusters. After 42 years of dedication and hard work as an aircraft mechanic, Joe retired and purchased Lemoore Body Works.
Joe’s love for adventure took many forms; Flying airplanes, riding motorcycles, and boating. But his love for modified micro midget racing started in his early years and continued throughout his life with his boys. He met many friends in racing whom he called “family.” Joe was also fond of preparing and grading the dirt at local tracks. This is where he became known as “Dr. Dirt.” If a track was done by Joe Sisson, you knew the racing was going to be good.
He is survived by 3 sons: Rodney Sisson (Lemoore), Roger & Karen Sisson (Lemoore), Ron & Niki Sisson (Visalia), and one daughter, Robin Sisson (Hanford). His beloved grandchildren, Chynna, Tanner, Jessica, Dereck and 4 great grandchildren. Joe leaves behind two sisters, Virginia (Louise) and Carol and one brother Phillip (Sony).
Family and friends are invited to the Graveside Service on Friday, April 14th at 11:00 am at the Hanford Cemetery; 10500 S. 10th Ave.
