James A Hopper, 50, of Visalia, Ca passed away suddenly on August 14, 2017. He was born to the late James M and Mary K Hopper September 17, 1966 in Los Angeles, CA. James attended Hanford High from 1981 – 1983, and Susitna Valley High from 1983 – 1984, where he graduated. He received his AS in Respiratory Therapy in 2006 at SJVC, where he graduated Valedictorian.
He met his wife, Virginia (Ginny) in 1983 in Trapper Creek, AK. They married in 1984. Together they bought property and built a cabin in Trapper Creek, where they lived before moving to Hanford, CA in 1988. He worked for his uncle, James Shelton, and partner Andy Anderson for many years at Shelton and Anderson Auto Upholstery and Glass. He later became partner with Andy and eventually sole owner. In 2005 James went back to school to receive his AS degree as a Respiratory Therapist. He worked at UMC in Fresno, Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno and most currently at Adventist Health in Hanford, where he was currently the Director of Respiratory. He had recently gone back to school to obtain a BS degree in Hospital Administration.
James was a loving, caring, giving man. He would do anything to help his family, friends, co-workers and staff. James loved to go camping, fishing and ride motocross with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Ginny, of Visalia, Ca, his son and daughter-in-law Donald and Tracey Hopper of Fresno, Ca, son Daniel Hopper of Hanford, CA, sister Tammy Hopper of Hanford, CA, sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Kevin Cramlet of Hanford, Ca, brother and sister-in-law Donald and Twylla Hopper of Arizona, mother-in-law, Jane Shaw of Trapper Creek, AK, sister-in-law Laura Parry of Trapper Creek, AK, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Nang Shaw of Trapper Creek, AK, brother-in-law Paul Shaw of Trapper Creek, AK and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews that knew him as “Uncle Ho-Bo”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James M Hopper and Mary K Hopper, father-in-law, Roy Shaw and nephew, Cody Parry.
There will be a Celebration of Life for all of his family and friends on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 750 E Grangeville Blvd, Hanford, CA.
