He was born in Tulare, California on March 25, 1950 to J.P. & Maria "Lupe" Martinez (both deceased).
He graduated from Corcoran High School in 1968. He attended Barber College and later in life received a degree from College of the Sequioa in Visalia.
He was drafted into the Army where he was a skilled sharp shooter and obtained top secret clearance.
In 1988 he became a Correctional Officer for the California Department of Corrections. He spent the next 23 years of his career at California State Prison-Corcoran, where he received many letters of appreciation and commendation over the years.
Throughout the years, he enjoyed giving haircuts to family and friends, especially his grandsons. His most treasured role in life was being "Grandpa". He enjoyed drawing, painting, playing guitar, and listening to music.
He was an amazing man, incredibly generous and loving, a friend to all who were lucky enough to know him. His happiest times were those spent with family and friends. He lived life to the fullest and his passion for life was evident in his beautiful smile. He had two simple rules: #1 Be happy. #2 Repeat number one.
Sadly, he was taken from us much too soon and life will not be the same without him. He leaves behind to cherish his memories the love of his life Gail, beautiful daughters Nicki Martin and husband David, Gina Martinez, Stacy Mierau and husband Marc, son Jerry Hunter and wife Keri, precious grandchildren Justin and Brandon Martin, Carter Mierau, Skielynn Hunter, siblings Rose Alvarado, Maria Siccardi, Molly Zirpel, Susie Hernandez, Angel Martinez, Mario Martinez, Jim Martinez, Ephram Martinez, Jess Martinez, Danny Martinez, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
He will be forever loved, forever missed, and never forgotten.
Arrangements under the direction of People's Funeral Chapel, Hanford, CA.
