Elizabeth Ann was born in Columbus, Kansas to Evalena French Turner and Charles Harrison Turner. She passed away in Tulare, California.
About 1921, the family moved to South Bend, Texas, near Mineral Wells, and on to Visalia, California in the early 1930’s where Ann attended Visalia Union High School.
She met her future husband, Ernest J. Filippi, while he was playing bass fiddle in a dance band at the Sierra Ballroom, Visalia. They were married on February 7, 1938, in Reno, Nevada and resided in Hanford, California where she was a homemaker while Ernie was Fire Chief until his retirement in 1974. Throughout their lives they enjoyed traveling the country in their RV.
Ann and Ernie have 3 children, Ronald (Geraldine), Robert (Julie) and Diane (Don) Avera; 8 grandchildren, Pete Filippi (Cindy), Nona Case (Geoff), Bobbie Zapka (Steve), Veronica Kearney (Gary), Judy Robison (Kevin), Dina Willis (Randy), Celine Garcia (Joey), Cheryl Offerding (Ed); 14 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brothers, William H. Turner and Robert E. Turner.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Hanford Cemetery; 10500 10th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230 559-584-3937.
