Edward Christopher Toste

Edward C. Toste, age 84, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2023, after a short illness. Edward was born on October 5, 1938, in Hanford, CA, and was the fourth son of six children born to Manuel and Emily (Pires) Toste. He attended Hardwick Elementary School and Hanford Joint Union High School.

He spent his entire life in Hanford where he worked for Armstrong Tires which became Pirelli’s. During this time, he coached various sports at St. Thomas McCarthy Memorial School. After retiring from Pirelli’s, he worked in security for Tachi Palace Casino Resort; was a volunteer firefighter; and worked for City of Hanford Parks and Recreation Department.

Over the years Edward had been on the Board of Directors for the Fraternal Hall, an active member in the Cabrillo Club, St Brigid’s Church, and Portuguese Festas. He and his wife Mary Ann enjoyed attending Hanford High Football and Basketball games. They did this until their health precluded them from attending.

In addition to his parents, Edward is preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann; brothers Manuel, Clarence, George, Robert, and sister Dolores. He is survived by his children Chris, Eileen (Brian), and Deanna (Ken); his grandchildren Chris Jr., Danielle, Patrick, Ryan, Kristen, Andrew, Dalton; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Hanford Fraternal Hall on Saturday August 26 at 1100hrs and will be immediately followed with a Celebration of Life.
