Eddie attended Crawford High School, where he developed a love for working with his hands. His favorite classes were shop classes; automotive, wood working, machine and electronics. Eddie played on the football team as a center. He is remembered as the tallest player on the team. Eddie always continued self educating himself. Reading and studying matters that he was curious to know. Eddie would say “I am a student of life, learning new things everyday.”
Eddie loved working on cars. From this passion he decided to start a business focused on automotive repair. Eddie and his childhood friend Eric Collins opened their first repair shop on 47th & Federal, buying a tow truck to aid the business. Eddie managed and maintained several other repair shops. However after many trials, his passion faded and he decided to put his wrenches down. Eddie joined forces with his God Dad John Kittling Sr. as a contractor with the Union Tribune, which later led him to becoming the second black Outside Salesman to manage his own route in 50 years of the Union Tribune’s History. After managing a route for a few years Eddie was led to drive semi trucks cross country. Eddie connected with Arrow Trucking Company of Tulsa, Oklahoma in the flatbed division. This inspired him to buy his own truck and start his next business, “Second to None Transport, LLC of Spring Valley, California”. Eddie would often say “Trucking isn’t a Job, it’s a Lifestyle.” Eddie spent over 25 years in the trucking industry.
Before passing away, Eddie rededicated his life and placed his trust in the Lord. He loved his children and grandchildren more than life itself. He would move mountains on their behalf and was their hero. He had a wealth of knowledge and if you ever needed advice or somebody to talk to, he was your man. He was also a jack of all trades and willingly shared his expertise. There was nothing he couldn’t do. You would never leave a room he was in without feeling his love, joy and laughter.
Eddie Lambert McCree was called to rest on April 8th, 2023 at the age of 62. He was loved and revered by so many and will forever be missed.
