Don was born in Hanford, CA and attended local schools. He enlisted in the US Army after graduation and was stationed in Germany. After discharge from the Army, Don worked at Best Foods in San Francisco and on the waterfront as a longshoreman.
Don moved back to Hanford in 1972 and began working in the field of landscaping. He was employed by the City of Hanford as Parks Superintendent before returning to the private sector as a licensed landscape contractor and owner of Hildebrand Landscaping.
Donald is survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol Hildebrand. He is also survived by daughters Megan (Nicolas) Brice of Keller, Texas, Elizabeth (Nicholas) Verboon of Hanford; son Brett Hildebrand of Hanford; three cherished grandchildren Tyler Verboon and Nicolas and Anna Brice; two sisters Heather LeMay and Susan Keith both of Hanford; and brothers Greg (Teresa) Hildebrand of Hanford and Kirk (Kelly) Hildebrand of Atascadero; sister-in-law Barbara Leach of Hanford; brothers-in-law James Miller of Australia and Doug Flores of Sacramento; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his lifelong friend and Army buddy, Fred Paggi of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Thelma Hildebrand.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 10 am at Calvary Cemetery; 11680 S 10th Ave, Hanford, CA.
