Born in Hanford, on April 14th, 1965 to Elder Felix and Irene Aviles Luna. David grew up and lived most of his life on Davis Street. He attended Roosevelt Elementary school, Woodrow Wilson Jr. High, and graduated from Hanford High School in 1983. David continued his education at the College of Sequoias for Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Design. He enjoyed watching the Houston Oilers/Titans, the San Francisco Giants, and especially all levels of basketball, which he enjoyed playing in his younger days. David was an intelligent and mechanically inclined individual that loved to tinker with just about anything he thought he could fix. Being the gentle giant he was, Dave really cared for his family and friends around him.
David is survived by his mother, Irene Luna, of Hanford; his two brothers, Pastor Steve & Mary Luna of Hanford, and Mark & Derise Luna of Waterloo, Iowa, and sister-in-law Cynthia Luna of Prescott, AZ; 13 nieces and nephews; 8 grand nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Louis and Mercedes Aviles and paternal grandparents, Jesus and Maria Luna; his father, Elder Felix Luna; Uncles, Jesse Luna and Ruben Aviles; Aunts, Abigail Aviles Ortiz and Norma Aviles Chacon; brother, Pastor Felix “Gary” Luna; nephew, Gregory Luna.
A Celebration of Life will be 11-1 p.m. Monday, April 4th, 2022, at People’s Funeral Chapel, 501 North Douty Street, Hanford, California. The burial ceremony will be at 2 p.m. at Hanford Cemetery, 10500 South 10th Avenue, Hanford, California. Reception to follow at Christian Faith Center, 1060 W. Davis Street, Hanford, California.
