Christine Ann Henderson-Serrato

Christine “Chrissi” Ann Henderson-Serrato, of Hanford went to be with her Heavenly Father on June 3, 2014 at the age of 41 in Clovis, CA. She is the daughter of James and Carolyn (Settle) Henderson. Chrissi was born in Sacramento, California on September 2, 1972 and moved to Kerman, CA at the age of 3 in 1975.

She attended Kerman Elementary, Junior High and graduated from Kerman High School in 1990 with the Leadership Award because of her activities in student government. After graduation Chrissi attended Fresno City College and California State University, Fresno, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Journalism in 1996. She received the 1995 Outstanding Media Studies Graduate Award. While at Fresno State she worked at the radio station KFSR FM as Music Director/On Air Announcer for 2 years. She worked for Lane Bryant in Fresno until she started work for KFRR FM 104.1 radio in Fresno as an on air announcer known as “The Goddess”- A loving nickname given to her by her high school friends. She loved being a DJ with all the little perks that came with it. In 2000 she decided to follow her other love - teaching. She worked in Visalia Unified and started in Pioneer Union Elementary School District in 2003 through the present earning her Master’s Degree from National University along the way. She loved the children she taught, her fellow staff members and the many parents she had the privilege of knowing.

Chrissi married Alex Serrato on March 25, 2005 in Hanford, CA at the Irwin Street Inn. Together they made their home in Hanford.

Chrissi was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and cherished her religion. This was reflected in her smile, her love of life and her love of family and friends.

She was predeceased by grandparents; Erba & Carter Settle and Eileen & Clarence Henderson, mother-in-law; Juana Serrato and beloved dog; Jax.

She is survived by her husband; Alex Serrato, mother & father; James and Carolyn Henderson, sister; Kathleen Henderson and brother; Jim C. Henderson and his wife Shari all of Hanford. She also leaves her nephews; Brad Henderson (and sister Madison Ankrom) of Ohio, Colten Henderson, Sosten Bursiaga and his fiancé Astrid Contreras and Blake Bursiaga all of Hanford. She is also survived by her aunt, Carolyn A. Henderson of Hanford and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws from Hanford and the southern California area. She also was blessed with many special friends she loved like family.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at People’s Funeral Chapel; 501 N. Douty Street, Hanford, CA 93230 and on Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. all at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; 2400 N. 11th Avenue, Hanford, CA 93230. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Rose Hills Memorial Park; 3888 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, CA 90601
