He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 64 years, Gilma and his children; Irma Ramirez Fennell (Rick) of Lake Elsinore; CA, Thelma Ramirez Trevino (Leo) of Coalinga, CA; Rene Ramirez (Elizabeth) of Coalinga, CA; and Rudy Ramirez (Jessica) of San Antonio, TX; 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a brother, Santos Ramirez of Texas, a still-born son in 1959 and grandson James Ramirez. Alex will also be forever remembered by his 6 remaining siblings, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley of south Texas, Alex moved to California in 1956 after his honorable discharge from the U. S. Army. He established his family’s first home in Huron, CA while working for the J. G. Boswell Company managing cotton production and harvest for over 30 years. He was known by Valley cotton growers for his contributions and innovations in the production and harvest of cotton. A long time resident of Huron, he built and established several small businesses before finalizing his retirement and moving to Coalinga to be closer to family in 1995.
Alex was an accomplished and generous man devoted to family, church and community.
Funeral services in memory of Alex will be held on Monday, January 29, 2018 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church located at 637 Sunset Street, Coalinga, CA with viewing at 10 AM, rosary at 11 AM and funeral mass at noon. Interment will take place at the Lemoore Cemetery located at 1441 N. Lemoore Avenue, Lemoore, CA.
In lieu of flowers, Alex would have loved to have a donation made to a favorite charity of choice.
