MSG/E-8 William Henry Wilson Jr. (Hank) took his last deployment safely home to be with his Heavenly Father on December 08, 2020 at 8:00 p.m. He was born on June 08, 1928 to the late William Henry Wilson Sr. and Pearl Williams Wilson and was the 2nd born of six children.
Hank was an avid golfer, enjoyed boxing, and supporting his Dallas Cowboys. He graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School in Richmond, VA and afterwards joined the U.S. Army. Hank decided to make the Army his career. He retired from the Army after 20 years and 20 days of serving our country. He spent the majority of his Army career in EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) where he was awarded many meritorious medals, along with the most heroic medal, the Soldier's Medal. He received the Soldier's Medal for risking his life to save another soldier. Hank was truly a soldier to the core in every way of his life. His favorite comment when something went wrong was, “I'll just soldier out from under it!” After his retirement from the military, he worked as a supervisor at Sandler's Foods and as a math tutor for Va. Beach Public Schools. Lastly, he worked at Freedom Ford as a Van Driver.
To know Hank was to love him. He gave sacrificially to all. He was an excellent Husband and Father. He was the love of Bonnie's life, and she was the love of his life as well. He was a member of Fountain of Life Outreach Ministries, led by Apostle Joseph L. Hadley II, who was also his good friend.
He leaves to cherish his memory his darling, loving wife, Bonnie Wilson and his beautiful and loving daughter, Lana Moses; along with many other adopted children. His Mother-in-law, Pastor Ann McClain, will cherish the memories of the great love they showed each other. He had two nieces, Deborah Moore and Pam Lipkins, whom he was honored to be like a father to them. He loved his nephews and nieces dearly and they loved him dearly. Also left to cherish his memory are: his sisters, Bernice Austin and Janet Webb, Hampton, VA.; Joyce and Lt. Col. (Ret) Ulmont Nanton, San Antonio, TX; sisters-in-law, Gloria (Dennis) Walker, Sandra (John) Reynolds, Renee (Willie) Morris, Laurila (Jimmy) Williams, and Anita (VanDerick) Sims. He will be fondly remembered by many more grandchildren and friends.
My Love, My One, Forever until we meet again!
