Born on September 20, 1926 in Birmingham, Alabama and raised in Illinois and Indiana, he graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis in 1944, and Purdue University in 1949.
He served in the US Navy in the Pacific in World War II between college entrance and college graduation, and then married Shirley Hooper in 1950. Warren had a long career as an aerospace engineer including several national defense projects, and the Apollo moon landing program. He later worked on several projects at Langley Research Center including the Viking Mars Landers, National Transonic Wind Tunnel, and several others. In later life, he travelled with his wife Shirley and friends in the US, Europe, and the Caribbean as well as pursuing his hobbies.
Warren is survived by four children; Douglas Greene, Deborah Ballard, Gary Greene, and Kimberly Heslep, as well as two grandchildren; Christopher Ballard and Justin Heslep.
The family will be receiving friends at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home with a memorial service celebrating his life to follow at 2:00 PM. A reception will be held following the service.
