LTC Victor L. Hollingsworth, 81, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. He was born in Mississippi and was a resident of Hampton for 38 years. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1981 as Lieutenant Colonel after serving 23 years of service which included two tours in Vietnam. He was the recipient of a Bronze Star medal as well as other medals and commendations. Mr. Hollingsworth was a member of First United Church of Foxhill and was a proud supporter of the Virginia Choral Society and upon his passing was their Director of Personnel.
Victor was preceded in rest by his wife, Quellyn Rae Hollingsworth; father, Richard Oscar Hollingsworth; mother, Jewel Clark; and siblings; Ina, Jacob, Lizzie, Peggy, Clark and Jerry. He is survived by his daughter, Dixie Hollingsworth Wilson; son, Richard Hollingsworth; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Claudice Turner Reed and Jane Parker.
A celebration of Victor’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, August 14, 2017, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home with celebrant Bert Rait officiating.
