My dear friend I can't believe that we're saying our goodbyes to you today. I can't express enough my sadness at your passing and will treasure all of our memories together. May you be at sweet rest, knowing that your assignment has been well completed. 

Nicole you touched many lives....what an amazing person. I feel so lucky that we crossed paths. Your shining personality will live on in our hearts. I’m grateful to have broken bread with you. 

I'm saddened to hear of the passing of Nicole. I had just spoken to her a couple of weeks ago about meeting for brunch. My deepest sympathy to the family. I met Nicole through a trip to Columbia in 2018 and we became good friends. We traveled, gathered, had brunch/dinner, went to plays, and had tons of fun. She was delightful, full of happiness and life. I will miss her presence and smile.

I only met Nicole back in July at a camping trip. She spotted me with an Aldi top on and we talked and laughed about our obsession with all things Aldi. Sorry to hear of her passing and your loss. 

For those who cared for Uchenna “Nicole” Onyeali, she will be buried on October 1st. If it is within your realm you can contribute to her funeral. Thank you all for your kind words and support.

It is still hard to believe you’ve left us. I hadn’t seen you in person since well before the pandemic, but God saw fit to get us together twice this summer. For that I am grateful. I joined the “Next Chapter” Meetup group 10 years ago. Through that group I not only met you, but two of my closest friends. I often wondered if you realized how your dedication to managing these groups impacted the lives of so many. You put so much into it! The Project Manager in you juggled all the details of these various groups with ease. It came so natural to you.  Thank you so much for your dedication to  creating and maintaining avenues for people to connect.  I appreciate it. We appreciate it. Rest well,  my friend. 

It’s still hard to digest that you’re gone. Thank you for all of the time and effort you spent on and with others. You’re willingness to connect with others and to connect others.  That is your legacy. Gone way too soon . You are missed and will be remembered. 



Thankful for the tireless efforts Nicole put into the meetup group of which many women like myself joined for companionship and solace. Nicole was certainly an inviting and cheerful spirit who made it easy to associate with her in socially. Her presence will be missed.

Thank you for sharing this time on earth with so many physically and virtually. I never thought I would deeply miss someone that I’ve never met in person. Who else will write ridiculously long camping posts like me? Who else will go into explicit detail about our adventures? Who’s butt will the random wildlife graze in the middle of the night in the forest? Lol. You’ve made a tremendous impact on so many lives. You were an angel in disguise. At one point you called me your “Shero” when all along it was you. I love you my tent sister from Black Girls Camp, DMV Does, and Outdoor Afro whom I’ve never met. 

Unfortunately, I only knew your loved one through a Facebook group, "Black Girls Camp," but it breaks my heart to know her life ended at such a young age. My sincere condolences to the family. May she rest in paradise 🌺

My deepest condolences to the family and many friends of Uchenna “Nicole”.  I met Nicole years ago through one of her meetup groups.  Her meetup group was one of the  first groups that really spoke directly to my status of being single, black, a woman, no kids, and living in the DMV.  One meetup she organized,  we did at the Capital Jazz Festival and it rained so bad. As she was known to be, she was very prepared with tent, rain gear, snacks. She was determined to stay for the main acts. She took water out of the tent with cups and try to make best of it. She didn’t give up or complain. She just thought up other situations. Because of her I got to see Anita Baker. She really  had a gift of making others want to experience life. I will miss her stories, lively energy and detailed posts (she made to give the all necessary details).  Nicole is a bright light and will truly be missed.💐

I met Uchenna only one time during a camping trip. So much joy and life. My condolences to the family. We went hiking along this river and set by the campfire.  Great conversation and company. 

I’m sending condolences and prayers to the family of Uchenna “Nicole” Onyeali.  I sent Nicole a text message today (and was shocked to learn about her passing). I met Nicole in 2013 through a MeetUp group that she founded.  Through her leadership and keen organizational skills, she tirelessly encouraged us ladies to not only be empowered by our social status (single with no children), but to enjoy life to the fullest and joyfully plan, own and define the next “chapter” of our lives (in whatever form).  We are both Michiganders and shared a love of camping and travel. Nicole was such a bright light!  She had a warm smile, an infectious laugh and a wonderful zest for life. She will definitely be missed.  R.I.P. 🙏🏽💐✨

I have had the pleasure to know Uchenna as colleague in SEC. Her energy, zest for life and big smile was contagious and she would always have stories to share about her trips when ever we met. By end of those stories we would all be laughing and having a good time. It was always a delight to be around her.  I am honored to have known her and she will be sorely missed . May her memories give strength to her family and loved ones during this difficult time.

I want to extend my deepest most sincere condolences to Uchenna's family.  I worked with Uchenna since she started at the SEC and always enjoyed her bright personality and kind spirit.  Through the years, we were often in the office late and we would take that opportunity to chat and catch up on what we had done since we last spoke. Uchenna's stories were always more exciting than mine. I'd talk about a local activity and she'd tell me what countries she'd been to, what cruises she'd been on, and where she was going next. I was in awe of  her energy and the zest with which she lived life, never sitting still. Uchenna lived life the way we should, with a big smile and the unrelenting desire to enjoy every second of it. I'm honored to have known her.

I have known you since our days at CNU. You were always one to speak your mind.  No matter when we talked, it always ended with us laughing uncontrollably at the silliest thing.  I am going to miss your travel blog but most of all I am going to miss you. Take Rest Ageless Woman. #GodsAngel

Uchenna and I worked together at the SEC. Everyone has a fond story to tell about Uchenna. She had a light-up-the room smile, and everyone across the SEC enjoyed working with her. I would always receive compliments about her work all the time. Normally I would get “Uchenna is so nice and a joy to work with”.  As her supervisor I can say that every time we spoke and in every meeting she brought joy into my life and that of her co-workers. 


My condolences to Nicole's family. With profound sadness and shock, I would never see you again, Nicole. I will always remember the good times we had at the Soul Beach Festival in Aruba, how we laughed and partied. That vacation was memorable. 

Like many of the friends here I met Uchenna (Nicole) through her Meetup group  which is surely one of her many legacies in the DMV. She became a friend through whom I also made other friends, she was truly a friend maker. DMV will not be the same without Nicole and her beautiful personality, and smile, and her warmth. My deepest condolences to her family to whom she was so close to and who she loved dearly at this most difficult of time. I will miss you Nicole. 

Uche, my birthday twin, how will I ever celebrate another milestone birthday without you? We were planning on getting together for our 50th! I will celebrate you on our special day with every year that passes. You were the brightest of lights with the kindest soul and the most beautiful smile that lit up every room you entered. I’m so very sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies to the family.  I’m stunned and my heart aches to hear this news. What a beautiful life she lived. I met Uchenna around 4 years ago with a meetup group, we have traveled together, had brunch/dinners together and laughed together. She was so warm and welcoming of everyone. I have made some great connections/friends because of her. She will truly be missed.

I met her a year and a half ago. We’ve only been able to see each and talk a few times but I’ll never forget her and how upbeat and helpful she always was. May you Rest In Peace my friend.

We became good friends more than the cousins we were. I loved her exuberance and positive attitude about life. She certainly lived every minute she was on this earth. Heart breaking the candle burned out so fast. RIP Uchenna. 

Uchenna reminded us all to live life to the fullest, laugh a lot and spend time with your friends and family. She will be missed.
