He was born May 15, 1941 in West Virginia and resident of Hampton, Virginia. He was raised in West Point, Virginia where his classmates said he was always the calm one with the encouraging smile and welcoming ear. Tom put his family first in everything he did and always enjoyed lending a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors.
He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church for almost 60 years and a skilled machinist at Newport News Shipbuilding for 52 years. Preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Kate Johnson, who he lovingly cared for over 7 years until her passing in 2018. He is survived by his children Keith (Lori), Kathy; grandchildren Tyler (Grace), Meredith, and Bryce (Caroline); great grandchildren Coleman and Ashby.
A graveside service will be held at Sunny Slope Cemetery in West Point, VA on Wednesday, Nov 30 at 11:00am.
