Susan Carol Thornton

Susan Carol Thornton, 54, died unexpectedly on Monday, September 18, 2017. Susan was born on January 12, 1963 in Raleigh, North Carolina and was a lifelong resident of Hampton and Newport News. An Avid animal lover, she dedicated much of her time working with animal advocacy groups. Susan was a free spirit who found her solace and peace in music.

She is survived by her two children, Jacob Thornton of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and Ariel Thornton of Newport News; her father, Paul Thornton and her mother, Delores Thornton of Newport News; her brother, Keith Thornton and her sister, Deborah Thornton of Hampton; her brother, David Thornton of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two nieces, Whitney Thornton and Presley Holmes; one nephew, Davis Tarvin; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family will receive friends Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, with a service to follow in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Parklawn Memorial Park.
