Robert W. Watkins, Jr., age 73, of Hampton, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Born to Virginia and Robert W. Watkins, Sr. on May 17, 1949 in Yanceyville, North Carolina, Robert grew up surrounded by love from his family with his sister Brenda. Robert enlisted into the United States Army at the age of 20 and dedicated his time there as a Traffic Management Coordinator. Through his years of service, Robert rose through the ranks alongside his fellow men and earned the title of Sergeant First Class. After 22 years of valiant service to his country, he would later retire in July, 1991.
Robert is survived by his beloved children, Robert W. Watkins, III and Arethia Childs; his sister Brenda Via; his grandchildren Ashley, Ramone, Isiah, Tyrique; his great grandchildren Aliyah, Rowan, Raylan, Kian and Elena.
Robert was preceded in death by his ex-wife Deborah Watkins; his father Robert W. Watkins, Sr., and his mother Virginia Watkins; and his grandson Robert W. Watkins, IV.
A graveside service with military honors will occur at 2:00 PM at Hampton Memorial Gardens, 155 Butler Farm Road, Hampton, Virginia 23666.
