Robert Clyde Tilson, Sr.

Robert Clyde Tilson, Sr., 86, passed away at his home on Thursday, May 5, 2011. He was a native of Flag Pond, Tennessee and a resident of the Peninsula for 48 years. Robert retired as a welder from Newport News Shipbuilding & Drydock after 35 years of service. He served honorably with the U.S. Army and was a WWII veteran.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Alma Louise Tilson. He is survived by his sons, Robert C. Tilson, Jr. and wife Shirley, and Ricky L. Tilson and wife Patricia, both of Newport News; daughter, Regina M. Breedlove and husband Roger, of Newport News; grandchildren, Dawn Rhoades, April, Heather and Ian Tilson, and Amy and Eric Breedlove; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brianna and Madison Rhoades, and Juliet and Julies Tilson; brother and best friend, D. Ralph Tilson of Newport News; and sister, Viola Tilson of Erwin, Tennessee.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 9, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park.
