Robert Clifton Swain

Robert Clifton Swain, 66, passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at his home. He was born in Ahoskie, NC and he had been a resident of Hampton for 60 years. Robert was a Security Guard with the Newport News Shipyard, where he retired in 2004 after 30 years of service. He had worked with his father refinishing hardwood floors since his teenage years. Robert was preceded in death by his father, Henry Clifton Swain. He is survived by his children, Christopher M. Goze and wife Shorey, Laura A. Swain, Robert A. Swain and wife Cora, John W. Swain and wife Shakish; six grandchildren; mother, Della Swain; four sisters, Judy Letourneau and husband Ray, Peggy Blake and husband Dayton, Cathy Burr and husband Kim, and Brenda Wilson; ten nieces and nephews; and fourteen great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home followed by a service celebrating Robert’s life at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
