Robert Daniel Ross, Sr., age 78, was called home to glory in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at his home in Smithfield, Va. He was a native of Waynesville, N.C. and a resident of Hampton for over 50 years.
Upon graduation from Hampton High School in 1953, he began a long and successful career in construction and underground utilities. Sons Joel and Bobby soon joined the company and Robert found great joy being able to work with his entire family for close to 15 years. He poured all his heart and soul and strength into his company and with his dedication and incredible work ethic, he was truly well-respected throughout all of Hampton Roads. He was a lifelong member of Pine Chapel Baptist Church, serving as deacon and trustee, and also was a current member of Community Baptist Church in Surry.
Preceding him in rest was the true love of his life Elizabeth K Ross, his parents, Jesse D and Esther L Ross, and his brothers Richard and Johnny Ross.
