Richard Edward Champine Sr.

Richard was born on November 11, 1954, in Newport News, Virginia,. He graduated from Kecoughtan High School in 1974 and dedicated over 40 years of his life to his career as a pipefitter at the Newport News Shipyard. He worked diligently until his retirement on February 25, 2019, and his commitment to his craft and his colleagues was deeply admired and respected.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dorothy Champine, and siblings, Daniel, Stephen, and Terry. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 32 years, Marti Champine, and their children, Crystal A. Champine, Richard E. Champine (Gaudy), Eric J. Kline, and Brian D. Kline (Noel). He was also a cherished brother to Jeff (Dolores) and Tricia (Ron). Richard's joy was multiplied by his grandchildren, Tyler (Courtney), Chris (Melanie), Anthony, Derrick, Julia, Megan, and Luna, and his great-grandchild, Payson.

A memorial service to celebrate Richard's life is scheduled for Wednesday, October 2 at 2:00pm at Parklawn Wood Funeral Home, located at 2551 North Armistead Ave, Hampton, Virginia 23666. A reception will follow at the same location, where family and friends can gather to share memories of Richard. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy and heart will forever be cherished by those who loved him.
